Who are your tutors and how are they chosen?

Our tutors are mostly teachers or postgraduates, all of whom have prior teaching/tutoring experience. Some are also professionals with past experience in the education world who wish to keep teaching in a smaller capacity and others work full-time in education. Our tutors are chosen for their knowledge of their subject, but also for their approachable nature and capacity to build a rapport with tutees.

We choose our tutors carefully, assessing their qualifications and experience but also talking to our tutors to get to know them before sending them out to parents. We take references relating to teaching experience and suitability for working with young people and we ask for copies of identification and qualifications. We also ask to either see a recent CRB (up to 1 year old) or process CRB checks for tutors.

How quickly can tuition begin?

Within a few days. When we receive your enquiry we'll contact you with a suggested tutor and registration form. If the tutor is acceptable and we have the form returned with your details, the tutor can call you to arrange tuition at the first mutually convenient time.

Why should I use a company?

We spend a lot of time looking through piles of highly qualified CVs and considering applicants as tutors. There are numerous people looking for a bit of part time extra cash, but there are fewer tutors who are committed and can teach well. These are the people we look for. We won't add a tutor to the list without properly considering their appropriateness; instead we'll think carefully about whether they will make a good tutor for our students.

Furthermore, our prices are good value in a competitive market place and our clients tend to stick with us once they've tried us!

What is the difference between Bright Tutors and any other tutoring company?

Firstly, our tutors are very good! As well as having a degree (often more than one) in the subject they teach, they all have experience working with younger people prior to working with Bright. Our tutors are chosen for their enthusiasm, experience and willingness to share their enjoyment of their subject with others. We are very picky about our tutors because our reputation depends on them.

Secondly, we know our tutors. This may seem obvious but it is not common! We've chatted to our tutors and checked their references and we are in regular contact with them. We know which age groups and levels they enjoy working with and can therefore match student needs with tutors more effectively.

Thirdly, we provide support. Once you've begun lessons we don't disappear. If you need an extra subject, have a problem with your tutor or need some advice you can call us. You can also access our e-learning centre with guidance for parents and students plus past papers and subject resource links. Finally, we take care of all the paperwork in terms of payments and terms so you know where you stand and student and tutor can concentrate on learning.

I need a tutor for a subject not listed here, can you help?

We'll certainly try! We've got good connections which means we can usually find the right person for a particular need very quickly, be it an academic subject not listed, an IT package, or a more unusual language. Please contact us with your requirements.
